Food in Amsterdam

If you know me personally, yummy food is one of my top priority regardless where i am. Did a research on Amsterdam, and boy, too many. I only managed to try out a few. Sad but well, i want to go back!

Seriously this is my favorite food in Amsterdam. This is smoke herring fish. If you love smoke fish, pls remember to try this. If i ever go back, this is my first choice. If you ever go to Amsterdam, pls remember to try this. I tried 2 different stores. One was too salty, so try more to get the right one for you. It is so Gooood.

Stroopwafel. It was freshly made. We tried a few stores as well. The best one is the one outside the Rijksmuseum. If you happen to see the store in the picture, try it. no regret there.

We walked pass this meat-selling store that was really crowded. Since we are there, we tried their food. Well, it is just normal and a bit dry. Personally, i think i wasted my calories on it.

Vlaamse Frites. The store i tried was Manneken Pis. They are actually fries but in different texture i think. I love potatoes, so maybe i am bias when i think they taste wonderful.

And cheese!!! I love cheese. Haha. Amsterdam cheeses seems to be milder or should i say less smell compare to others. But i might be wrong as i did not taste so much to conclude. Let me try more. The reason for this is to remind myself, i like the cheese i had in Amsterdam.

These are not all the food I had ate. There were actually much much more but I realised i did not take photos of them. Like the fried food vending machine (I like it because it is fried food plus vending machine), different kinds of waffles and pancakes, sandwiches (I love the beef tartar sandwich), Heineken and etc. I don't know why no photo was taken. And now, I only have myself to blame. =_=

Christmas is around the corner

With all the feasting, i bought a new kicks, hoping to burn away some fats. Pretty Cool, huh?

C had flowers delivered to my house on our 10th Dating Anniversary. Roses and Lilies. I really love how flowers can immediately brighten up a place. Me being me, i separate the roses and lilies and put them into the vase. I need to learn how to love mix and match.

In 1 more week, I am going Hong Kong for a short Holiday with my family. With me going Hong Kong a few times each year, maybe i should start doing a Hong Kong guide book. But so many times I forgot what i did there.

Did some research recently on the cafe in Hong Kong, it is getting more and more popular for theme cafe.  Maybe I should plan a trip just for cafe hopping.

Oh and i am feasting tonight! Whee~~~ Buffet dinner here I come. =)

Amsterdam Day 2

We did not want to rush during our time in Amsterdam, so we woke up quite late. Enough sleep is very important for me. I play harder after a good sleep. =)  After a good night sleep, breakfast is of course super needed. Our breakfast destination is Albert Cuyp Market. It will be the best place to have their local delights and Fruits! I've heard their oranges and strawberries are really really really good.

The entrance to the market. Most people are on their bikes which is really convenient for them. As I mention earlier, the bicycle track are all around Amsterdam. I actually love this idea, but i doubt we can do it in Singapore, or can we?

Along the market. I love it. I don't know what's not to like in this. Even the weather is good for outdoor market. I love the food, the atmosphere, the people, etc.

I love love this. So pretty. If only i stay in Amsterdam, I will buy them every week. How nice. One can only wish. =(

What is Holland famous for? Windmill!!! Since we don't have much time in Amsterdam, we went to the nearby Windmill, cater for tourist I believe. Zaanse Schans is very near Amsterdam. Convenient is the key. =)

Windmills

If you are there, you would see how Mr Chong's eyes light up upon seeing this. No idea why he has this special feeling for ducks and swan, but they are cute nevertheless. They love human i think.

I love cheese. They provide free cheese tasting. Yummy.

We went to the cafe and this is the view. I want to go back to Amsterdam badly. I don't know why but i want to go back.

We went to the red light district after dinner tonight. Everything was really great. Even I don't understand but I really like Amsterdam. They are like this hidden gem that no one can resist. If you can, go to Amsterdam. I love everything there. Remember to visit everything I just mention.

December

We are in the last month of year 2013. Thinking back, i wonder what have i done for year 2013. Reflection time!

I am still looking forward to 2014. I hope I will be more motivated with life. Recently I am always tired. Moving a muscle is almost like moving the mountain, i kid you not. Maybe this is what rainy days do to me.

My only joy in life now is watching drama. Best if it is comedy. Oh, and online shopping. It gets so bad at times, that i just buy anything, A.N.Y.T.H.I.N.G. No worries, I am not depressed, just bored. I am thinking how to make myself more involved in life, or should i say more enthusiastic about life. =)

I love the atmosphere of Christmas. Favorite place is cold storage. They always play nice Christmas-ty song during this period of time. <3 Maybe I should hop by Cold Storage later. wheee~~~

Will update more later.

Music Wednesday

I love Music Wednesday, because there is music and it is already midweek! haha.

The Best Day - Taylor Swift

Love this song. I think this is a music video done by Taylor Swift herself. I know a lot of people don't really like her voice/song. But try this song out. =)  <3

Okie, i personally like her voice. Haha.

November Rain

We are back to the rainy season. For the past few days, it would rain early morning before work and late afternoon, just right before knock-off time.

I have so many things to blog till i procrastinate blogging them. Weekend was fun time. I want to blog about it but I have my Europe trip in the queue. I suspect I will post about my weekend anyway soon. I forgot bits and pieces of my Europe trip. Actually I should not call it Europe trip, since i only went to Amsterdam, parts of Italy and Paris. Does transiting in Germany consider I have visited Germany? By the way, for the entire trip, I only had the Germany custom stamp in my passport. |-_-| I feel as if i have not been to any other country.

You know how when you are younger, you think if you earn more, you will have enough to spend. I earn more than what I earn back then, but why am I still at the same state (read: broke). Here am I, having the same thought again. Some things just never change =D

This is me rambling again.

Music Wednesday

It's only time - The Magnetic Fields.

Heard this song when i was watching How I met your mother season 9 episode 9, in case you are interested.

Amsterdam : Day 1

Is a wonderful place to stay in. The people there are generally happy and friendly. The thing to get used is their cycling track. I keep forgetting about the track and almost committed suicide so many times! Lucky, the cyclists there are pretty fast to avoid me. =)

The pathway underneath the apartment I was staying. Decided to try out Airbnb, so instead of hotel room, I stayed in a stranger's home. How cool right. My very first time. As I was staying in the suburb, it was actually very peaceful. As you can see from the photo above, not much people on the street. For this, I love it.

As this is my first time, I decided to walk to the museum instead of taking public transport. Passed by this park by accident, Vondel Park. It was really nice to walk in a park in the cooling weather. Fresh air and peaceful mind.

I did not managed to reach in time for this museum. The exterior look good though.

I love it. Nope, I am not one of those arty farty person. I don't think I know art actually. But I still love it. Especially the painting with the skull smoking.

The canal along the road. Love any place with nice canal (keyword is nice).

A small and nice-looking church nearby the park.

My post will be quite random. I can't really remember much about it now. Yes, forgetful is my middle name. I want to go back again if possible. I never thought I will fall for Amsterdam and that was why I only planned 2 nights for it.  Serve me right!

p.s. all my photos are edited.

My 2013

My Amsterdam has been in my draft for more than a week. I still can't decide how i want to post it. A photo spam maybe. Anyway, the past few weeks are rather busy for me, both work and helping out in wedding (I love wedding but i realised wedding planner can't be my dream job).

It is almost the end of october, which mean Christmas is around the corner, and we will have to welcome 2014. I can't wait for 2014 to come. Hopefully 2014 will be good for me. I am already thinking what to do in 2014. 2013 has been quite exciting for me. I can feel things are slowing down, and chilling out.

I hope i get to try out bungy jump next year. I know i am random. But i realised the older i get, the more afraid i am. I wonder will i get heart attack halfway through the jump. That will be spectacular.

Oh, i want to try sky dive as well. I need to try all these more dangerous activities earlier before i turn into scardy cat.

Oh yah, i want to go to Venice at least once before it is drown and i had done that. One thing off my checklist. My brother told me to have a bucketlist, and i doubt one piece of A4 size paper will be enough.

I am going to countdown to 2014 in Hong Kong again this year! And i miss Taiwan. I want to go there and eat and eat and eat. I miss the steamboat, fried food, beef noodle, stew pork rice, porridge, and more.

If you are still reading this entry by now, you must be wondering what is the purpose of this entry. There is no key point. I just wanted to ramble. =)

Roman History

After a visit to Rome, I am drowning myself with information regarding Roman History. Yes, me! History is not my cup of tea. I was more a Geography person, and if you know me since my secondary school life, you will know that I chose Geography over History (Not that I am good with Geography either). And Mr-know-it-all (aka Mr Chong) commented I really don't know anything, do I. Maybe I am really thirsty for more information or i am seriously irritated by Mr Chong's word, i drown myself with information.

Before the trip, I only heard of Vatican City, Colosseum and etc. Those popular places of interest and i only know the name. It never occur to me that one day I will be interested in their history as well. Guess who was the first person I google when I am back in Singapore.

King Hadrian! And why, you might asked. Because the king had a BOYFRIEND. One of the tour guide briefly mention that one king had a boyfriend when we saw the statue of the boyfriend. I actually went all out to find out whose the king. Some things never die. Even when drowning, i am drowning with gossips about them as well.

My next target for research is Alexander the Great. Ehem, you should know why.

Southern Ridges, Singapore

My Family and i went there for a walk recently. It has been around for a few years now but it is my first time there (officially). Times like this, make me appreciate Singapore more. "Why?" you might ask.

With our limited land, it is more difficult to do urban planning. I would think the planning team must have face a lot of challenges. Whenever i look at Singapore landscape, i really think they are doing a good job.

I miss

I miss the sun, sea and the sand. I need a long holiday (Yup, i underlined the important word, in case you miss out on the important point).

Oh yea, i miss having massage or spa as well. My backache is killing me. I am even willing to make do with a Reflexology.

I miss aimlessly roaming on the street, where I have all the time in the world.

I miss 24 hours nonstop drama marathon. I used to do that when i am schooling.  Missing a lesson or two doesn't sound that big of a deal.

I miss ......

Addiction and obsession

For the past 1 month, i am hooked on one Korean Variety show, running man. I believed a lot you heard of this show before. Whether you have watched it is another thing.

Running man started 3 years back. I don't forced myself to follow the ongoing trend, so that makes me 3 years late (so much catching up to do). The reason i started watching this show is because all my favorite sitcoms are taking their season break and i have nothing to watch.

Oh man, i seriously regret starting late. One thing about me is i got zero patient in show. If i can, i will watch all the 150+ episodes at one go. Yes, i am impatient like that. Right now, I can clock up to 24 hours during weekends watching this show, and a few hours every single weekday. Discipline is not longer with me (Okie, most of the time i am not). I can't wait to catch up with the current episode so that i can start sleeping properly again. One thing about Korean Variety show, they are funny with just simple words and action. It doesn't need to involve woman wearing bikini, showing off flesh. That's the thing i like about them.

Oh yah, this post is not to promote this show. It more like an update of my current life. As for the show, personally i think it is funny, but it might not be your cup of tea. And, watch at your own risk. If you are as addicted and obsessed, it is really not my fault.

I can't wait to get fat

with these gems. My friend just sent me this piece of really good news to perk me up for Monday.
One of my favorite snack in Melbourne. I will never forget how i brace the cold in Sydney just to get these for Mr Chong's classmate, before they were available in Melbourne. Bought a couple for myself to try, and the rest is history.

My top 2 are Raspberry jam and original. What's yours?

My kind of Weekend

A pint or two on Friday is bliss. Even better when it is pair up with good music =)

Been a while since I have good raw beef. And guess what, I found one last weekend. But sadly, that's the only nice dish on the menu for me.

Pleasant surprise. Brought my family to one of my favorite place after dinner. And these beauties light up the sky. As short-lived as they are, they provide beauty while they last.

2 Days of MayDay Concert

No, I am not insane! You will be amaze by the number of people doing the same things. You just can't get enough. For the brief 3 hours plus (in concert term, 3 hours plus is way too long), you basically throw away your identity and immersed into the atmosphere.

We jumped, we scream, we clap, we dance (swaying side by side is consider dancing!), we laugh . If you have not experience it, go on and give it a try. One important pointer, find the singer/band that you like else boredom might be the one accompanying you.

Drink after the concert is a MUST. Okie, drinks during the concert is encouraged too, especially if you are watching a rock concert! But remember not to drink too much because you might be running to the toilet too frequently to enjoy the music.

Back to the concerts I attended in June. The band actually came out the idea of controlling the color of the light sticks of the whole crowd. For other countries, the audiences have to buy the light stick from the concert merchandise. For Singapore concert, we get free light sticks. No, our tickets are not more expensive than other countries. And the concert was Awesome! =)

  Singapore Night Scene as background.

For my own record, my second first row in MayDay concert.

Drinks after the concert. Yup, Alcohol.

Freshly Baked

Since i can't restart my life, i decided to restart my blog =)
