My nephew's full month

Yup, my sister gave birth to a boy last month. They name him Jay. He is so cute but I might be biased. He looked exactly like my sister when she was a baby, maybe cuter. Chinese usually would host a full month celebration for the baby and so my sister did.

I was in charge of the decor. We decided to limit the colours to white, grey and green. The instruction my sister gave was simple. I love simple. I did the banner below.

This simple looking banner look me a long time to complete. Guess what, people can't even see the words on the flag. I need to work on that I think.

I also decorate the place where they place the red eggs.

I love how the paper rosettes look. Can't wait to use it to decorate my wall.

The paper pom poms were supposed to be hang throughout the venue but those that ready-made ones I bought turn out to be quite ugly. I preferred those I handmade using tissue. I can't seem to find green and grey color tissue anywhere.

I really like doing all these crafts but I seems to be not cut out for it. I am still trying to convince myself it is due to the lack of practise.

Red dress, red dress where are you

Yup, once a year hunting had begun. The hunt for the red dresses. Been to a number of shop but to no avail. I have only a few more days to go before Chinese new year. I try to make it a point to wear a red dress for the first day of Chinese new year. So far, I bought a red shirt and because it is winter in Hong Kong, I can't even find a pair of shorts to match it with. Going for another round of shopping tomorrow wish me luck!

Oh oh, since I couldn't find a pair of shorts, so I thought I will match it with a culotte. In case you don't know how a culotte look like, look at the photo below.

{Photo taken from internet}

It is supposed to be knee-length trousers. Guess what, because of my laziness to try on clothes during winter, mine turn out to be a full length trousers. Not the fault of the pants, but the height of the person whom bought it!

Book club: Diary of a Single Wedding Planner

Just finished the book, Diary of a single wedding planner (by Violet Howe) and I find the following quote really nice. I admit I really like to read chic lite (Okie I have to confess I read this book because it is free).
"The fairy tale suggests you will find the perfect one. It does not exist. What does exist is love. Support, patience, kindness, forgiveness, compassion, understanding. These exist. They are choices that must be made every day to maintain a marriage. I don’t wish my son and his bride a happily ever after. I wish for them that they will make each other laugh. That they will support and encourage each other. Hold each other accountable. Uplift. Forgive. I wish for them the stamina it takes to choose love each and every day. For love is a verb. An action we choose. To love is to risk. To work through both the mundane and the unexpected. To love is to be completely vulnerable with no guarantee of safety. Because there is no happily ever after. There is only the choice to love."

I am back to spend the Christmas and New year  in Singapore. I can't wait for 2016.

2015 is not really ideal for me, down on luck actually. 2016 will be good!

DIY lamp

Bought this fairy lights from cotton on. They come in different colours. I bought the blue one. This is battery operated.

With any bottle, you can create a nice looking lamp. I chose this milk bottle that i gotten from cotton on as well. You can reuse any glass bottle from your drink.

I am going to try not stepping into any cotton on/typo shop. The damaged to my wallet is too much! Haa.

Into the last month of 2015

I didn't realised we are nearing the end of 2015. I thought we still had a few more days to December. I  had been back in Hong Kong for a few days. It is good to be back to routine though Melbourne has been great.

Melbourne has always been fun for me despite the weather. The buildings, the street performances, the tram rides, the food and etc. There are so many cafes now. I was stuffing myself with coffee (long black) this trip and most of the time, I might be caffeine high.

It was supposed to be summer, but Melbourne weather is unpredictable. Some of the days were as high as 31 degree, while some were 17 degree. This also meant that I needed to pack for 2 seasons. I went with 20kg of luggage.

The weather is not the most annoying thing, the flies are. They were everywhere, even attempting to fly into your mouths. I have decided I like winter more, even though I will most likely freeze to death. One thing good about summer, the sun set around 8.30pm. You will feels like you have more time.
